Hebe macrocarpa var. latisepala is a distinctive variety with an architectural upright habit. This is a naturally occurring species which is native to the North Island of New Zealand. The leaves are thick and leathery, mid green in colour and contrast with the brown stems. The flowers are produced in racemes up to 15cm in length with dark purple flowers, these are produced in November and in milder areas or Winters will continue through the Winter.
Hebe Margret was raised in North Yorkshire at Rocklands Nursery in the 1980’s. A compact mound forming shrub with deep green glossy leaves and from May until July masses of light blue flowers which fade to white are produced.
